What Is Merger Agreement Of Manipur

Two extremist affiliates based in Manipur – the Coordinating Committee (CorCom) and the Alliance of Socialist Unity, Kangleipak (ASUK) – and the Tripura-based National Liberation Front Twipra (NLFT) announced the closure to mark the «forced merger» of the two states with India on 15 October 1949. Thus, the Manipur State exercised internal sovereignty only under the reign of the British crown, until British supremacy was shook in 1947 with the passage of the Indian Independent Act in 1947. Under Section 7 of the Act, entitled «Consequences of the Construction of the New Dominions,» the Indian state, including Manipur, became completely independent and their full sucenity was revived on 15-8-1947. However, in accordance with Section 4 of Section 2 of the Act, space was left for these states to join one of the new Dominions of India and Pakistan. Status quo agreements have been concluded, followed by accession instruments in the forms outlined in Appendix DC and the WI Annex of the White Paper on Indian States. A review of these forms will show that the status quo agreement applied only to communications, weapons, currency, Indian state forces, etc., as was already the case at the time. The instrument of accession, while the jurisdiction and authority of India`s domination over certain issues such as defence, etc., have always retained the sovereign`s sovereignty over the Indian state. This resulted in the merger agreement by which the leaders of the Indian states of the Dominion government ceded full and exclusive authority, jurisdiction and powers for and with respect to governance and agreed to transfer state administration to the Dominion government. His Highness, the Maharajah, will continue to enjoy the same personality rights, privileges, dignity, titles, authority over religious observances, customs, customs, rites and ceremonies, and institutions that are responsible for the same thing in the state, which he would have enjoyed had this agreement not been reached. Its sovereignty of the Maharadjas is entitled to the full ownership, exploitation and enjoyment of all private real estate (unlike state property) which belongs to it at the time of this contract.
